The future is at Sounds Fantastic

Sometime in 2009, cinema-goers in major US cities will experience a whole new dimension in motion picture entertainment.
But movie lovers in the Maritimes don't have to wait a moment longer. The D-BOX Motion Code technology is on display right now at Sounds Fantastic's downtown Moncton flagship store.
Created, developed and marketed in Canada by D-BOX Technologies Inc. of Longueuil, Quebec, this dramatic innovation was introduced initially to the home theatre market through select audio/video retailers.
Sounds Fantastic is the first and only store in Atlantic Canada to have it.
By forming strong industry alliances, D-BOX's award-winning motion technology is creating a global standard in the entertainment world.
The latest development is an application for the commercial theatre industry, unveiled just a few weeks ago at a major trade show in Las Vegas. It's expected to hit the big-screen market within 18 months.
But it could be part of your home theatre within 10 days, according to Alain Bourelle, an audio/video specialist at Sounds Fantastic's Bonaccord Street store.
"We prefer not to talk it up too much until someone has actually experienced it," he says. "The wow factor here is just phenomenal.
"It's the new best thing, and it's hitting the market like a runaway train. In fact, you can revisit that very scene from The Polar Express. Just come in and see us, give it a try, and we'll fill you in on all the details."
"We're very proud to be the first with this technology east of Montreal," says Sounds Fantastic president Jeff Kelly, "and doubly so because this is a made-in-Canada innovation, and one that promises to become a worldwide standard.
"D-BOX Technologies chose us because of our reputation as a leader in the audio/video business, and because of our excellent installation capability."
The patented D-BOX Motion Code is specifically programmed for each film, and produces an effect that is perfectly synchronized with on-screen action.
More and more titles with D-BOX codes are being released by major studios on Blu-ray and standard DVD.
Meanwhile, coding for hundreds of other titles that collectors may already own can be downloaded from the Internet, enabling the viewer to actually feel the rush of flight, the torque of speed, and literally every bump in the road.
