Stan Carew caps the RAC season

The popular radio host will be joined by Breeze & Wilson for the Riverview Arts Centre's final show of the 2007-8 season
The Riverview Arts Centre will wrap up another season of arts and entertainment on June 29 as CBC Radio personality Stan Carew will be performing along with the Breeze and Wilson, a musical duo hailing from the UK, who have become quite popular to listeners of Stan's show, Weekend Mornings.
Graham Breeze and Toby Wilson put together an acoustic 'Live Set' with lapsteel dobro, acoustic guitars and close harmony vocals. They perform a blend of original compositions and country/roots/blues covers, some well known and some obscure.
After touring with his own group, The Magpies, Stan was involved in bringing Breeze and Wilson to the Maritimes to perform in Halifax. The experience was so positive for the duo and their audiences that it seemed a natural extension to bring them back and expose them to more of the Maritimes.
"People drove last year from Cape Breton, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island to see them," explains Stan. "Graham and Toby couldn't believe how enthusiastic the audience was.
"I went to England last fall on vacation and played a few gigs with them and realized how exciting it is to play for an audience in another country."
The response experienced during their first foray into our region was so positive, that the duo's latest recording, their third, is entitled "Oh Nova Scotia" and the title track was written in response to the warm Maritime reception the duo received.
"We were overwhelmed, really, at the way people over there accepted our music," say the duo. "Once Stan played one of our songs, our website (www.breezeandwilson.com) was flooded with hits."
For the Riverview Arts Centre, the concert seems an ideal way to conclude a busy season.
"The season has been great, we've had a lot of great acts in this year," says Vivian Hicks. "It'll be nice down-home music, with some up-tempo songs as well, and I think it's warm and friendly music.
"I'm really looking forward to this show, it should be a great time. It's a great way to end the season."
Tickets for the show are general admission and cost $15 each advanced or $18 at the door, HST included. Students may purchase tickets for $5 (in limited numbers) from the box office one hour prior to the show.
Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.riverviewartscentre.ca/tickets.htm, or can be purchased at the Sobey's or Jean Coutu Coverdale Road locations in Riverview.
