The 16th Annual Moncton SPCA Dog Jog was a great success. The weather held out all day making it just cool enough to keep me happy and warm enough to keep everyone else happy.

I would like to thank everyone that came out to participate, those that raised money through pledges and all the volunteers that came out to help. It was so nice to see that many dogs and people all gathered together. There was even one cat that showed up.

Everyone had a great time watching the flyball and agility demos that were put on by FAME. Mandy from C103 and Shiloh from XL96 were fantastic hosts and kept things moving nicely through out the day.

In total, over $13,000 was raised to put towards the renovations of the dog adoption room. We need some more money before we can go ahead with this project but $13,000 is incredible. Thank you to everyone. We could not have pulled this off without your support. I am already looking forward to next year's event.

The next event that the Moncton SPCA is hosting is the Fall Photos on Oct. 11. These are outdoor photo settings where people can get a photograph of their pet in a very pretty fall theme. Settings are by pre-booked appointments, and spots are filling up fast.

After the fall pictures, we have the Santa Pics. This is a great time and lots of fun. If you have never taken part in this, come on out and introduce your pet to Santa. All pets are welcome. We have had everything from dogs and cats to guinea pigs and iguanas come to have their photos taken with Santa.

Our second annual Curl for the SPCA is set for Feb. 28. This event was a blast last year. I only hope that the weather is a little friendlier to us this time. If you have any questions about any of the upcoming events, please do not hesitate to call us.

We are very, very full with dogs right now and encourage anyone that is thinking about adopting to come out and visit us. You never know, your new four legged best friend may just be waiting for you. We have dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors and ages. Check out our website to see the pictures and write ups of all the pets we have for adoption.

* Pet Chat is a weekly question and answer column written by Moncton SPCA Director of Operations Nanette Pearl. Do you have a question about pets, the Moncton SPCA or anything else "pet" related? Send your questions by e-mail to nanette@monctonspca.ca or visit the Moncton SPCA website at www.monctonspca.ca. The staff and volunteers of the SPCA remind readers to please spay and neuter their pets.
