What's New? Riverview contractors and home owners will be pleased to see a familiar face behind a new Riverview business venture. Located at 38 Trites Road next to BMR Domac MacWood Windows, Doors and More recently opened under the management of Stacy Whytewood.

MacWood's knowledgeable staff with a combined 80 years of experience is now available to assist customers with project advice, supplies and installation. According to Stacy Whytewood.

Home renovators will also want to drop by Riverview Floors & More, newly opened at 1B Wentworth Drive/Coverdale Road. With a background in residential construction, owners Michael Jones and Allan Goodwin offer locally made custom furnishings and cabinetry as well as ceramic, marble, granite, hardwood and laminate flooring. And to keep your toes warm and toasty on cold winter evenings, Riverview Floors and More also install luxurious in-floor heating.

With the Town of Riverview poised to capitalize on a rebounding economy, Town Council recently appointed a new Business Advisory Committee. Chaired by Councillor Don Lenehan, the Riverview Business Advisory Committee will facilitate discussion with key stakeholders within the Riverview business community to formulate and present recommendations to Town Council on issues concerning economic development in Riverview.

Committee members include Councillors Don Lenehan and Bob Hyslop, Peter Tye (Marwin Interiors), Sharon Geldart (CBDC-Community Business Development Corporation Westmoreland Albert) and Heather Harris (Downtown Riverview Business Association).

Initial goals of the Advisory Committee include compiling and maintaining a current database of available commercial space for sale and lease in Riverview to facilitate economic growth, and creating a directory of all businesses in Riverview including home-based businesses and Manufacturer's Agents. With a long-term goal of supporting Town efforts in creating a vibrant and thriving business community in Riverview, the committee welcomes public input.

What's On? The Riverview Arts Centre is hosting the Valley Jamboree featuring Gary Morris and Special Guests on Saturday September 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverview High School Auditorium.

With a successful 24 year history, the Valley Jamboree is a cross between "BIG Kitchen Party and Variety Show featuring traditional music and new talent in an entertaining show with traditional fiddle/accordion music along with solo/group vocals and a sprinkle of humour. Tickets are currently available online at a cost of $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

What's Coming? After much speculation, Sobeys recently confirmed the relocation of their Riverview store to the Findlay Park area is slated for Spring 2010.
